Sources and service limits
Ruleset 2026-07-29-v2, checked against primary sources on 29 July 2026.
PermitGrid accepts EV, heat-pump, solar, battery and mixed low-carbon projects. Current automated routing is deliberately narrow; projects outside the verified EV pathway receive manual route and source review.
Routing controls
- A postcode match is not DNO confirmation. A qualified installer or grid reviewer confirms the live route, supply facts and evidence before release.
- 70 kVA or higher, upgrades, unknown capacity, multiple occupancy, V2G, generation/storage or maximum demand above known capacity always receives manual review.
- A small-business site up to 69 kVA is only a possible Smart Connect route when the competent installer confirms the existing supply can accommodate it.
- “Submission-ready” means the agreed pack passed PermitGrid's evidence and reviewer checks. It is not UKPN/ENA approval, electrical design certification, legal advice or permission to connect.
